Services for Edward Quarrier Smith, 85, Mansfield, La., were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Mansfield, with Father Mackey officiating.

Burial was in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield. Local arrangements under direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home, Wills Point.

Mr. Smith died September 23, 2008, in Terrell.

He was born February 14, 1923 in Shreveport, La., to Neal and Melba Lea Quarrier Smith. He grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Byrd High School in 1941. He graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II. He was an accountant for Placid Oil Company in Dallas, retiring in 1986 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Smith, Mansfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Gaylon Green (formerly of Wills Point) Smith, Forney, Richard and Marla Carter, Richardson, and Joe Carter, Lavon; daughters and son-in-law, Dana Quarrier, Shreveport, Judy Paul, Effie, La., Susan and Richard Maxwell, German Town, Tenn., and Mary Lou Robbins, Dallas; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
