Driver Leads Police On Fast Chase
GRAND SALINE—A man driving a pickup truck led Grand Saline officers on a high-speed chase through part of the city on Sept. 13.
The police incident report stated the chase began after officer Chris Barker tried to stop the driver for running the stop sign at Van Zandt County Road 1803 and Spring Street around 2:09 a.m.
The driver of the truck ignored Barker’s flashing lights and siren, and fled southbound on North Spring Street, the report stated.
It also stated the fleeing driver topped out at 81 miles per hour on North Spring Street near Stadium Drive. The chase eventually continued five miles out of the Grand Saline city limits on Farm-to-Market Road 17 North, the report said.
After the driver turned into his residence on VZCR 1714, he was arrested and later identified as Jacob Lee Green, 23, Grand Saline. The report said Green was found to have an expired driver’s license and a prior arrest for evading arrest or detention in 2001.
He was transported to the Grand Saline Police Department for book-in and then transported to the Van Zandt County Jail, according to the incident report.
