Homecoming Set For September 19
The Van Vandals will face the Mabank Panthers during their homecoming game on Friday, September 19, but celebration at Van High School will start on Monday, September 15.
The homecoming theme for the high school this year is "The Tradition Continues".
"Classroom doors throughout the school will be decorated. Each grade level will build a float for the homecoming parade and will also be preparing a run-through sign for the football team," said varsity cheerleader sponsor Shelley Pinkerton.
Dress up theme days for the high school will be: Monday, 80’s Day; Tuesday, Twin Day; Wednesday, Wacky/Tacky Day; Thursday, Fairy Tale Day; and Friday, Red and White Day.
The community-wide pep rally and homecoming parade will be held on Thursday, September 18.
"Parade line-up will begin at 7:45 p.m. and will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. and end at the football stadium," said Pinkerton.
Pinkerton said that the Homecoming queen and king will be announced at the end of the pep rally.
There will also be a game day pep rally at the high school on Friday, September 19, beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the gym. The public is invited to attend that pep rally as well.
The homecoming court and the Van ISD Distinguished Alumni will be recognized prior to the game on Friday.
This year’s homecoming queen nominees are Caitlin Galloway, Shelby Harris, Carly King, Randi McClanahan and Sarah Milewski.
Homecoming king nominees are Damon Hightower, Clayton Kendrick, Blake Pennington, Tazz Pugh and David Richmond.
This year’s homecoming duchesses include freshmen Megan Calhoun and Jan Mayne, sophomore Deanna Hunt and junior Alecca Nipp.
