Trustees Tour Campuses

Randal Brewer, Sports Editor

The Wills Point school board members toured district campuses on Friday, September 12. The tour was an opportunity to review a maintenance agenda that was engaged last year, superintendent Joe Oliver said.

"The renovations are complete in the Primary cafeteria," Oliver said of the construction project that was undertaken over the summer.

"Some walls were removed to provide a larger kitchen area," Oliver explained. "We also installed a new serving line and updated the kitchen equipment."

Oliver also reported that the project was completed under the budgeted $150,000.

The other campuses had a number of drainage problems that allowed water to seep into the buildings. New landscaping and concrete drainage systems have improved the situations, and no water seepage problems have been reported after recent rains.

The district has also addressed roof leaks on all of the campuses.

"Last year we counted about 70 different roof leaks," said Oliver. "We’ve gotten that down to four or five. As many roofs as we have, leaks will be a never-ending battle, but we’ve made drastic improvements in that area."
