Austin Dixon Named To All-State Team
Austin Dixon was named as an Honorary First Team All-State Pitcher by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association after requests by district coaches. Dixon passed away days before his senior season of a brain aneurysm.
“As far I know, this is the only time this has occurred,” said THSBCA president, Rex Sanders. “The board voted to add Austin’s name to the All-State list after requests from district coaches. We were more than happy to comply.”
Another Edgewood player, first baseman Dillon Weaver, was named to the third team, as was Grand Saline catcher Matthew Johnson.
Two Van Vandals were also named to the third team. Brice Stanford added to his list of post season honors by being selected as an outfielder, and Zach Harrison was similarly honored for his play at shortstop.
In addition to being named First Team All-State as an outfielder, Canton Eagle Josh Wilson recently participated in the THSBCA All-Star game at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
