Van’s First Annual Fourth of July Celebration

Mother Nature threw a monkey wrench into most of the plans last Saturday for the City of Van’s first annual Fourth of July Celebration as rain cancelled a number of activities including the parade.

Despite the gloomy weather forecast earlier in the day, the fireworks display went on as scheduled at dusk Saturday night.

Among the events called off was a parade featuring kids and veterans along with the bounce house, the water slide, the dunking booth, face painting and kids’ games. The Carter Blood Care bus was in town as scheduled to conduct a blood drive Saturday.
