Van City Council meeting set for Thursday (tonight)

The regular monthly meeting of the Van City Council is set for 7 p.m. Thursday (tonight) downtown at The Movie House.

Following the approval of the minutes from the June 15 meeting and payment of expenditures for the month of June, the council will discuss action on the selection of a Mayor Pro-Tem.

“We are required by state statute to select a Mayor Pro-Tem after each annual election cycle,” pointed out Van City Administrator Charles West. Amanda Davis currently serves as the Mayor Pro-Tem.

A vacancy on the city’s planning and zoning commission will be considered by the council members.

Participation in the FEMA mitigation program will be discussed along with a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for auditors for the upcoming budget year.
