Ratings, STARR test results presented for Van ISD

Accountability ratings and STARR test results for economically advantaged and disadvantaged students were analyzed and discussed Aug. 21 during the regular monthly meeting of the Van School Board.

Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn gave an update to the trustees concerning the official accountability ratings for the school district as the district was given a “Met Standard” rating.

“All of our campuses received the ‘Met Standard’ rating,” said Dunn. “In addition, the middle school received two distinctions, one for academic achievement in math and the other for post-secondary readiness. The high school also received two distinctions, one for academic achievement in ELA reading and one for post-secondary readiness. The bottom line is we ‘Met Standard’ which is the highest rating you can receive.”

While Dunn is pleased with the overall accountability rating, there are still some areas of concern that need to be continued to be addressed.
