Winnie Dray

1935-2017

A memorial service will be held for Winnie Dray at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Community Christian Fellowship, 15704 TX-110, Lindale, TX 75771, under the direction of the family.

Winifred Nalene Dray was born Nov. 8, 1935, in San Francisco, Calif. She had been a resident of Van for 20 years, formerly living in many different places through Mercy Ships. She worked as an administrative professional for Dept. of Navy and YWAM. In 1969, she was recognized and awarded for her outstanding business performance as a woman. She was a member of both CCF and YWAM, and traveled the planet with Mercy Ships.

She went to be with the Lord Oct. 31, 2017, at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Dray; and parents, William and Molly Andrus.

Services for Wilburn Anderson were held Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Hilliard Funeral Home.

A graveside service followed at Providence Cemetery, Van Zandt County.

Mr. Anderson passed away Oct. 1, 2017, in Tyler at age 93.

He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Cooper. He had been a resident of Grand Saline since 1980, formerly living in Grand Prairie and Dallas. He served honorably in the army during the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star among many other awards. He worked as a welder and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Van.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Andrew Anderson and Mamie C. Watkins Anderson; and three sisters, Jane Jones, Billie Parker and Bobbie Guffy.

Memorial services for Charles Theophile Gagneux, 86, of Van, were held Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Tom Campbell and Bro. Ted Winton officiating. A graveside service with military honors was held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin, La. Mr. Gagneux passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, in Tyler.

He was born Jan. 8, 1931, in West Monroe, La. and spent his early years there. He graduated high school in Roper, N.C.

He joined the Air Force in 1948, and proudly served for 24 years. After retiring, he moved to New Mexico and then Louisiana before settling in East Texas, where he fulfilled a lifelong dream of raising horses. He also enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, gardening, traveling, singing and playing harmonica.

Services for Kacey Marshall McCauley were held Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Hilliard Funeral Home. Interment followed at Fairway Garden of Memories Cemetery in Van.

Mr. McCauley passed away Aug. 28, 2017, at the age of 93, one day away from his 69th wedding anniversary with his wife, Deborah.

He was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Hillsboro. He was born a triplet and the youngest of his four other siblings. He had been a resident of Van for 15 years, formerly living in Ben Wheeler. He retired from Sherwin Williams in Garland after 38 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ben Wheeler and loved to farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Franklin McCauley and Bertha Eva Jacks McCauley; triplet brother, Maurace McCauley; and other siblings, Horace, Thurman, Laverne and Jack.

Services for Dorothy Marie Jackson, 91, of Chandler, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

Interment will follow in Haven of Memories.

Mrs. Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, in Tyler.

She was born June 20, 1926, in Wills Point to James Olin Pearce and Carrie Burnett Pearce.

She grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School in 1943. After high school, she married Travis Gail Jackson of Van. The Jacksons were happily married for 63 years. After he returned home from World War II, they lived in Longview a short time before moving to Van where they raised two sons, Jim and Alan. In 1967, the two moved to Louisiana until they retired to Chandler in 1985.

A graveside service followed at Beck's Chapel Cemetery in Athens.

Mr. Hester passed away Aug. 15, 2017, at his home.

He was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Athens. He had been a resident of Golden for 31 years, formerly living in Van. He served in the army after high school and was a talented builder. He owned Hester Construction for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Hester and Izora Jock Hester; and his brother, Marvin Lavon Hester.

Arlene “Muer” Jones, Murchison, was born August 27, 1915 in Edom, TX. She passed away peacefully in her home on June 28, 2017, at the age of 101. She was a resident of Callender Lake for 48 years. She loved cooking, baking, travelling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Edom United Methodist Church since the age of 12.
