Services for Louise Williams, 71, of Lindale, were held Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale with the Rev. Tom Buck and Bro. Byron Howard officiating. Interment followed in Edom Cemetery in Edom. She died Monday, April 3, 2017, in Tyler.

She was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Ben Wheeler to the late Edgar Lawrence and Aulcie Ballard Miller.

Mary Ann Landgrebe, 85, of Van, passed away on March 29, 2017.

She was the daughter of Essie and Nora Young.

She grew up in Morrisonville, Ill., and attended St. Maurice grade school and graduated from Morrisonville High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Landgrebe and daughter, Cathy of Atwood, Ill., and brothers, whom all served in the military, Joseph A. (Army), Louis H. (Marine) and Andrew E. (Marine).

Mary Louise Clemments Lockett was born Nov. 17, 1928 in Clinton, Okla. to the late William Josephus Clemments and Pearl Moore Clemments.  She moved to East Texas in 1991, formerly living in El Paso.  She was a nurse and talented china painter. 

She passed away at the age of 88 on March 26, 2017 in Van.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Edward Lockett of Tyler.

Services for Nathan Alan Justice were held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at Hilliard Funeral Home. Ed Wisehard officiated.  He was laid to rest at Union Chapel Cemetery, Smith County.

He was born February 15, 1984 in Terrell and passed away at the age of 33 on Feb. 25, 2017.  He was a life-long resident of Van and graduate of Van High School.  He was a carpenter, working as partner with his dad in the construction business, Don Justice Remodeling.  He was an outdoorsman, and loved to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arvil and Agnes Justice and James and Inez Dunklin.

Patricia Ann Evans, known as “Pav” to her friends, was 92 when she passed away Feb. 10, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Albert William Evans.

Family members include her daughter, Molly (and Kurt) Adkins; stepson, James Allen Evans II; ten grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Getting ready for winter

It’s late January, the high temperature today will be 70 degrees, and our topic is getting ready for winter. Perhaps we will have a couple months of cold weather, perhaps not. If we do, let’s get ready for it!
How deep in the ground are your water pipes? When the ground surface freezes, the cold penetrates the ground. Eventually it will get deep enough to freeze your water pipes. We all know about keeping a little water running through the pipes to prevent them from freezing. To be on the safe side, start the water when the outdoor temperature is forecast to be freezing.
How long should you let the water run? It depends on how long it stays below freezing and how deep your water pipes are. Ours are a foot deep. We dribble the water for twice as long as the weather stays below freezing.
By the way, drink plenty of water. It’s easy to get dehydrated in winter. No one expects to get dehydrated in winter, so we never think about it.
