Funeral services for Virginia Louise Sides, 91, of Canton, were held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Interment followed at Haven of Memories. Mrs. Virginia Sides passed away February 9, 2024, in Tyler. She was born January 15, 1933, in Edgewood to Grover Cleveland and Sarah Gertrude Pearson Counts.

Virginia married Winford Sides in 1950. They made their home in Canton in 1957. Winford became one of the largest pea farmers around and together with Virginia, they owned and operated Sides Pea Farm. Virginia was the “face of the business” for many years, where she enjoyed interacting with the customers and sharing her passion for peas.

Virginia loved listening to Hank Williams, fishing, painting and testing her luck at the casino. Most of all, she loved making memories with her family.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Winford; parents, Grover and Sarah Counts; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Virginia is survived by her son, Danny and Sonia Sides; daughter, Jeanette Sides; son, Ronnie Sides; daughter, Wendy Sides; nine grandchildren: Brandon Sides, Blake Sides, Heath Sides, Tara Rambo, Matt Sides, Jesse Moseley, Joey Carreon, Adam Sides and Amber Sides; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Bell.

Visitation was held Monday, February 12, 2024, at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
