Memorial services for Frank Lee Churchwell, Jr., 81, of Grand Saline, were held Friday, April 12, 2024, at Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline with Bro. David Crain officiating. Mr. Churchwell passed away on March 29, 2024, in Tyler. He was born on January 26, 1943, to Frank and Lottie Westmoreland Churchwell in Grand Saline.

Frank graduated from Grand Saline High School, Class of 1961. He spent many years as a referee and umpire for football, basketball, and baseball games. He especially loved calling games for summer youth sports events. Frank served on the Grand Saline Library Board and the Grand Saline City Council. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and was retired from Morton Salt Co. after 28 years of service.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lottie Churchwell, and sister Drothea Cotten.

Survivors include two sisters, Glenda Jennings and husband, Myers, of Grand Saline, and Betty Erwin of Colleyville; two sons, Patrick Churchwell and wife, Katy, of Wichita Falls, and Mike Churchwell of Ardmore, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Nichols and husband, Chris, of Edmond, Oklahoma. Also surviving him are grandchildren Nicki Bishop of Dallas, Derrick Churchwell of Springfield, Missouri, Andrew Churchwell of Wichita Falls, Kate Nichols and Ady Nichols of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dr. Bryan Dodson and wife, Liz, of Houston, and Jarod Dodson and wife, Regan, of Anna. Great grandchildren are Christian Spears and wife, Tori, of Fort Carson, Colorado, Kindall Bishop and Coen Bishop of Austin, and Aila Spears of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Frank is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

The family received friends for a time of visitation Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, in Grand Saline.
