Services for Chris Langran were held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at New Beginning Baptist Church with Dr. Shelby Davidson officiating. A graveside followed the service. The visitation was held March 15 at Hilliard Funeral Home.

Lucia Christine Weeks Langran was born July 16, 1947, the oldest child to Allen Weeks and Dolly Worthington Weeks. She had two siblings: a sister, Judy Weeks-Perry and brother, Richard Weeks. Chris was born in Greenwood, South Carolina. She later moved to Augusta, Georgia and finally in 1963, she moved to Texas to begin life with her first husband, Gene Sample. Chris and Gene were married from 1963-1981 and had three kids: Allen Sample, Ronnie Sample, and Mary Norris. Chris met the love of her life, Mike, and married him on June 13, 1984. Mike had two kids that Chris gladly welcomed as her own: Rory Langran, and Mary Gonzales.

Chris is the most talented woman a person could ever meet. Using her many talents including caring for others; either as a CNA, a home health worker, a mother, a grandmother, a Sunday school teacher, or most importantly, a wife. Chris and Mike bought 21 acres of rough unmanned land and worked extremely hard for over 40 years perfecting it to the loving, safe haven that so many call home. Chris loved staying busy; some of her hobbies included praising God, painting, crafts, sewing, dancing, thrifting, cooking, garage sales, gardening, mechanic work, and spoiling children.

Chris was a child whisperer. Between Chris and Mike, they have five children, Allen Sample, Ronnie Sample, Mary Norris, Roy Langran and Mary Gonzales; nine grandkids, Amanda Clark, Kellie Sample, Amber Norris, Jacob Sample, Daniel A. Norris, Nathan Sample, Sophia Langran, Auora Langran, and Ethan Gonzales; and 10 great-grandkids Samuel Clark, Alyssa Clark, Jacob Clark, Aja Clark, Robert Clark, Aliah Walker, Mackenzie Miller-Norris, Piper Miller-Norris, Lucia Williams, and Erin Payne.

Chris passed away at the age of 76 on March 9, 2024, at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dolly and Allen Weeks, sister Judy Weeks-Perry, niece, Amanda Perry; aunts, Sara Gillion, Ruth Worthington- Smith, Eunice Worthington Dorn, and Inez Worthington; son, Allen Sample; in-laws, Kenneth Langran and Pauline Davis; and great granddaughter, Aliah Walker. Many words can be used to describe Chris. Wonderful, Beautiful, Kind, Loving, Caring, Feisty, God Fearing, biggest heart, Strong, Stubborn, strong-willed, Sharp-Dressed, a True southern bell, and was quick to cut a rug. She could know no stranger. She wasn’t afraid to get dirt or grease under those long perfectly polished nails of hers. Chris was a dedicated Christian. She was a member of Colfax Baptist Church for many, many years, then she helped build New Beginnings Community Church of Edom from the ground up. No doubt this Angel of a woman went straight to heaven. She leaves behind a world of souls and lives greatly enriched for knowing her.
