The Wills Point Lady Tigers have set a lightning fast pace throughout the opening weeks of the 2021 volleyball season, notching wins at an impressive clip as they continue their march towards the start of district play. After suffering a four-set loss during their first match of the year Aug. 10, the Lady Tigers roared back with an impressive run at the Palestine Varsity Tournament Aug. 12-14.

Wills Point opened its tournament run against Mildred, notching an easy 25-11, 25-14 win to begin pool play. An ensuing matchup against Crockett would play out in similar fashion as the Lady Tigers dominated both offensively to score a 25-18, 25-14 win.

Wills Point wrapped up pool play with their most competitive match of the tournament’s opening day, outdueling Kerens 25-13, 27-25 to advance to the Gold Bracket.

Following a five-set triumph over Quinlan Ford in non-tournament play Aug. 11, the Lady Tigers returned to Palestine the following morning where they earned a 25-14, 25-14 win over the Grand Saline Lady Indians.

Wills Point would tally another win over Cayuga before coming up just short in their bid for a tournament title with a 25-16, 25-10 loss to White Oak in the Championship Game.

Wills Point was scheduled to be home for an extended stay, beginning play at the annual Hardman Tournament Aug. 19. Following a matchup against Kerens Aug. 20, the Lady Tigers will resume the Hardman Tournament Aug. 21.

Other upcoming matches will include a home date against Caddo Mills Aug. 24 and a trip to compete in the Edgewood Varsity Tournament Aug. 26-28.
