Protect Your Eyes to Stay Safe!

Body

It is NOT safe to look directly at the Sun without eye protection specialized for solar viewing, except during the brief total phase of a solar eclipse when the sun’s face is completely blocked by the moon.

Use safe solar viewing  glasses, (eclipse glasses) or  a safe handheld solar viewer  when watching the  eclipse  partial phases, and look away  periodically to rest your eyes.

Regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are NOT safe for viewing the Sun.

In his e-mail to the News, Lewis said that the decision April 1 by Van Zandt County Judge Andy Reese to have ‘Declared a Local State of Disaster’ for VZC in advance of the solar eclipse for the time period of April 5-9 factored in his decision to close school April 8.
